Description Veterinary Assistant Veterinary Assistants are valuable members of our medical teams and play a crucial role in patient care and client service. Solano-Napa Pet Emergency Clinic is seeking Veterinary Assistants to join our emergency department team. The Veterinary Assistant is responsible for providing and supporting patient care, client service, and all hospital teammates. The Veterinary Assistant must be compassionate and enjoy working closely with patients, clients, and teammates.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Deliver exceptional, compassionate nursing care to patients utilizing a variety of technical skills, including diagnostic sample collection, venipuncture, radiography, medication, and fluid administration
- Understand the importance of a clean and orderly facility. Does not hesitate to clean or organize as part of a normal job duty
- Triage and obtain physical history, assess patient vitals.
- Assist with patient procedures and surgeries, pre and post-operative patient care, surgical suite, instrument, and equipment care
- Assist the doctor in being efficient by anticipating the doctor's needs and providing medical care, recordkeeping, and client communication as ordered by the veterinarian.
Skills and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Enjoy a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and be willing to pitch in and assist with all roles, including customer service tasks.
- 1 or more years' experience in a veterinary practice (vet assistant, other)
- Experience with basic office functions in a busy office environment.
- Genuinely enjoys working with animals and can effectively deal with them even when they are stressed, ill, or in pain.
- Able to work with a great attitude and be flexible with clinic/patient/staff needs.
- Interact with other team members with professionalism and respect.
- Must be able to follow directions, balance multiple tasks, be confident, and prioritize tasks appropriately.
- Can stay calm and efficient during a medical crisis.
- Approaches his/her job duties in a mature nature.
- Practices excellent communication skills, verbal, written, and non-verbal.
- Must be able to lift and restrain pets of at least 40 pounds and work on feet most of the day

Experience-Based Compensation Range: $20-23 / hour
