The Senior Data Platform Manager plays a pivotal role within the Global Data, AI, and Governance Platform Engineering team. This position involves leading a team of skilled data engineers and developers to design, implement, and continuously enhance data and reporting solutions that drive innovation and efficiency.

Main Responsibilities:

• Act as the single owner and custodian of a modern, cloud-based global data platform.

• Lead a team of data platform engineers and collaborate with product, data foundations, AI platform, and technology teams.

• Define and execute the data platform roadmap to support the Digital Data strategy, including enabling domain-oriented data product ownership in line with Data Mesh principles.

• Develop, manage, and enhance the global data platform based on AWS and Snowflake.

• Design and implement solutions to support various data types with proper controls.

• Integrate Data and AI platforms and develop platform automation and reusable components.

• Advocate for the platform and communicate with management and stakeholders.

• Establish global data platform standards and lead multidisciplinary teams, promoting federated governance and self-serve data infrastructure

About You

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's/Master's in STEM or a relevant field.

• 8+ years of experience in designing, developing, and maintaining data platforms and large data solutions.

• Experience in leading cross-functional teams to deliver complex data solutions and projects.

• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to align technical solutions with business goals.

• Strong knowledge of data integration technologies, ETL/ELT, and modern data engineering technologies, with experience implementing or supporting Data Mesh architectures.

• Expertise in multimodal data systems and distributed architectures (AWS, Snowflake, Spark, Hadoop, Kafka).

• Hands-on experience with data warehouse/lake solutions and data architectures.

• Proficiency in SQL (preferably Snowflake) and programming languages (Python, Shell scripting, Scala/Java).

• Strong background in cloud technologies and services, preferably AWS.

• Understanding of software application development, agile methodologies, and data/digital strategy and governance, including decentralized data ownership models.

• Knowledge of data security, compliance standards (e.g., GDPR), and best practices in data governance.

• Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools, proficiency in automating workflows and implementing CI/CD processes for data systems.

• Familiarity with Data Mesh concepts such as data as a product, domain-driven design, and federated computational governance is a strong plus

• Curiosity and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.

Nice to Haves:

• Experience in the life sciences/pharmaceutical industry.

• Familiarity with visualization tools (PowerBI, Tableau) and project management tools (JIRA, Confluence).
