The Research Assistant will support research activities in the Caves and Green labs by conducting experiments at the direction of Principle Investigators. Research activities primarily involve behavioral experiments on live animals (shrimp and fish), but occasionally may involve the use of microscopy, calibrated color photography, high-speed videography, spectrophotometry, or molecular methods in collaboration with other labs.
The Research Assistant will accompany other lab members with field research, which will sometimes require the use of SCUBA, usually in shallow, tropical environments. The Research Assistant will be responsible for duties such as: coordinating lab activities and performing experiments (including assisting with the planning of fieldwork); helping to maintain marine aquarium facilities and assisting with animal husbandry. The Research Assistant will also be responsible for annotating video data, entering and proofing data from the lab and the field, and data analysis. The incumbent will be expected to contribute their findings to the PIs on activities on an ongoing basis.
Occasional fieldwork is required, which may include weekends and evenings.
This is a fixed term position with an end date of 8/31/26, which may be extended based upon available funding.
