JOB DESCRIPTION SWLA CENTER FOR HEALTH SERVICES

JOB TITLE: Pharmacy Delivery Driver DEPARTMENT: Pharmacy SUPERVISED BY: Director of Pharmacy SUMMARYThe Pharmacy Delivery Driver is responsible for picking up and delivery of pharmacy prescriptions, packages, medications, and vaccines to homes and designated locations. The driver is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of company-owned vehicles. Daily task and delivery routes are assigned by a supervisor and pharmacy staff. The driver must operate the route efficiently to ensure that scheduled pick‑ups and deliveries for the day are completed as intended and must manage time well. Performance is evaluated upon results. EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE High school graduate or GED. Hold a current Louisiana Driver’s License with no exclusions or citations. License will be cleared through the Department of Motor Vehicles and SWLA insurance carrier annually (ODR report). Knowledge of how to handle materials safely, such as prescriptions and vaccines. Familiarity with using GPS systemsli> Time management to ensure deliveries are made on schedule. Excellent vision and hand-eye coordination to stay safe while driving. Physical ability to perform job. Prior health care experience preferred. Knowledge, understanding, and sensitivity to multicultural groups, encompassing their socio-economic backgrounds. Licensure or ability to obtain licensure when background credentials warrant. Basic Math skills. Education/training or work experience in computer basics. Skill in utilizing computers. COMMUNICATION ABILITY Excellent communication skills at level necessary for understanding and relaying information to patients. Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, patients, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the public. REASONING ABILITY Skill in exercising a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion, and decision-making to achieve objectives. Skill in analyzing situations accurately and taking effective action. Skill in exercising judgment and discretion in developing, applying, interpreting, and coordinating clinic policies and procedures. PROFESSIONAL SKILLS Skill in organizing work, making assignments, and achieving goals and objectives. Knowledge of the policies and procedures of the clinic. Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a high-stress and fast-moving environment. Ability to be culturally sensitive and effective when working with ethnically diverse populations. Ability to assume responsibility over assigned work functions. Ability to establish and maintain quality control standards. Ability to organize priorities and delivery deadlines. Ability to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Prepare medications for delivery or mailing once the prescription has been reviewed and cleared by the pharmacist, including packaging, labelling for delivery/mail-out, and ensuring all required documentation accompanies the order. Deliver prescriptions to patients at designated address. Assist with the prescription checkout process when not delivering medications. Greet patients or customers at the pharmacy window or checkout area. Verify patient identity and ring up prescription orders. Handle payment transactions (cash, card, insurance co-pay) as needed and issue receipts. Provide friendly customer service, answer basic questions, and direct patients to the pharmacist or technician for detailed consultation. Pick up patients for clinic appointments and return them to their homes after their clinic visit. Pick‑up medications and deliver as needed to designated clinic sites. Meeting delivery deadlines. Communicating with staff and other team members to make deliveries. Loading and unloading appropriate packages for pick up or delivery. Maintaining documentation of deliveries and pickups. Obtaining client or customer signatures when delivery is completed. Responsible for maintaining company vehicle used to deliver medications and prescriptions. All vehicles are for SWLA Center for Health Services business use only and must be parked at the Center when not in use on official business.
