Job Summary
The EKG Technician Hospital is responsible for obtaining accurate EKGS and arrhythmia testing, and interpretation. EKG staff is required to recognize acute diagnosis and know non-emergent and emergent protocols for each unit. EKG Technician- Hospital after training is required to at all codes and Rescue Ones. EKG staff is responsible for applying and instructing patients discharged with ambulatory monitoring devices. EKG staff required to be proficient in operation of Brain Stimulator Clinician tablet to program DBS devices for surgery patients and hospital patients for all units. Hospital EKG staff are
required to work every other weekend, rotating Holidays, night shifts and can be mandated up to 16 hours due to patient care needs.
Job Qualifications
Education
For positions, requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.
Minimum Required: EKG Class provided by Marshfield Clinic Health System (MCHS) with the expectation of scoring 80% or better on the basic EKG interpretation test with 80% or better on final within one year of hire.
Preferred/Optional: Enrolled in one of the following courses: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or First Responder.
Experience
Minimum Required: None
Preferred/Optional: One years' experience in related field.
Certifications/Licenses
The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.
Minimum Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) Awarded by the American Heart Association.
Preferred/Optional: EKG technician certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA), or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
