We’re working with a leading international insurer to appoint a Chief Risk Officer for their North American platform. This is a senior-level opportunity where you’ll drive the risk strategy, oversee the implementation of the Risk Management Framework, and provide critical second line oversight in a complex and dynamic regulatory environment. This role can also be based in Chicago, Connecticut, or Boston. Reporting into the Group CRO and working closely with North American leadership, you will: Lead and manage the North American Risk team directly, with dotted-line oversight of the Compliance function. Oversee the implementation and evolution of the Risk Management Framework across North America, ensuring it's fit for purpose. Play a key role in setting and reviewing platform risk appetite, incorporating emerging risks and evolving market conditions. Represent Risk and Compliance on key boards and management committees, ensuring regulatory obligations are met. Provide robust risk reporting and support strategic decision-making through ORSA and other reporting outputs. Foster a strong risk culture and support the 1st Line with clear oversight, guidance, and challenge. Experienced Required: Proven experience in a senior risk leadership role, ideally within property/casualty insurance. Deep understanding of risk frameworks, regulatory compliance, and governance in a North American context. Strong regulatory engagement experience and familiarity with U.S. federal and state-level insurance regulations. Confidence working with Boards, senior executives, and external stakeholders, including auditors and regulators. Excellent people leadership, with the ability to manage and inspire a high-performing, cross-functional team. Key Competencies: Strategic thinking with strong commercial acumen.
