Chemical Engineering Co-Op Status: Non-Exempt (hourly)
Department: 285 Chemical Engineering
Project: Gen3 Fuel Cell and ELX Metal Corrosion Coating evaluation
Position Summary Plug Power Inc. is actively seeking a highly motivated Co-Op. The Co-op will be responsible for assisting the Chemical Engineering Department in a wide variety of initiatives and in support of the department's projects. In this role, you will gain exposure to a fast-paced manufacturing and engineering environment which includes developing a detailed understanding of Plug Power's products. The role will focus on the successful completion of technical projects, process improvement, documentation, and presentation of results at the end of the program.
Project Summary - Work on advancing fuel cell reliability in Plug Power's GenDrive product line focused on profitability for project Steamroll.
Core Duties and Responsibilities - Develop and maintain a detailed understanding of all Plug Power products
- Work with senior level engineers and management to interpret and analyze data
- Assist in developing engineering processes with guidance from senior level engineers and management
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to sufficiently make minor repairs as necessary
- Ability to independently set up experiments and monitor progress
- Understand engineering concepts and how to appropriately apply them in day-to-day projects
- Ability to critically analyze data in terms of system performance and reliability
- Represent Plug Power in a professional manner at all times and in all interactions
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Education and Qualification - Pursuing a Bachelor of Science or master's in Chemical Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Materials Science, or a related program.
- Prior Internship or Co-op experience preferred
- Must have reliable transportation to the office
- Materials and/or chemical engineering knowledge
- Knowledge of Fuel Cells, corrosion a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills; project management experience a plus
- Must possess the highest ethical standards and a commitment to work quality
Pay Rate:
$21.00 - $25.00
This is a temporary position and therefore not benefits eligible.
